March 7, 2023 - After participating in the board meeting held at
Odisha, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi met top bureaucrats of the state and
discussed the Nano Products being produced at its Paradeep Unit.During the
meeting with Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena and V K Pandian (IAS)
Private Secretary to the CM, Awasthi briefed them about the IFFCO Nano Urea
and its benefits in mitigating soil, air & water pollution. The IFFCO MD also
discussed the environmental benefits of Nano Products manufactured in the
IFFCO Paradeep Plant and also investments in the plant for new Sulphuric
Acid Unit & other facilities. Awasthi was accompanied by IFFCOs
Paradeep Unit head. March 4, 2022 - IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi laid the foundation stone of the biggest Nano Fertilizer Project at its Paradeep Unit located in Odisha in the presence of Unit Head Kirit Kumar J Patel and other officials. At present, Awasthi is on a Paradeep tour and back-to-back inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several new projects. He laid the foundation stone of a new Sulphuric Acid Plant III at the said plant. Awasthi also inaugurated the new Oxygen Unit at IFFCO Paradeep Plant dedicated to the people of Odisha to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic. The move will help in fulfilling the need for medical oxygen in the area. He also inaugurated a new Floating Solar Power System. July 24, 2021 - India’s largest fertilizer manufacturer, IFFCO is expanding its sulphuric acid production capacity by the installation of the third plant with a capacity of 2,000 metric tonne (MT) per day. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Friday, laid the foundation stone for yet another project at Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO), Paradip, virtually. The project conceptualised in January this year at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore, is targeted to be operational in 2023. The plant will be built using latest technology to ensure lowest emission levels. Apart from producing sulphuric acid which is used for production of DAP/NPK fertilizers, it will also recover the process heat in the form of high pressure steam, used as a source of energy for power generation as well as other process requirements. The new plant will reduce dependence on import of the chemical, utilisation of waste heat-based energy to reduce burden on the power generation sector, contribute to climate change initiatives by reducing carbon emission and greenhouse gases, generate employment and contribute to overall economic development. Technology selection and ordering process for the plant is currently in progress. Thanking the CM for his support, Managing Director US Awasthi said this plant is yet another step by IFFCO in their commitment towards the farmers of the country. Also present on the occasion were K J Patel, Unit Head of IFFCO, Paradip, along with his team and representatives from Employees’ Union and Officers Association. www.newindianexpress.com December 13, 2020 - IFFCO has left no stone unturned in achieving its monthly production targets even at this difficult time when the Covid situation is worsening with each passing day.All IFFCO teams were jubilant as all its units achieved their monthly targets for the month of November. Paradeep Unit has surpassed its bulk fertilizer, phosphoric and sulphuric acid production. The unit achieved the target 6 days ahead of the schedule.Phulpur Unit surpassed the targets of ammonia and urea fertiliser winning words of appreciation from MD Dr U S Awasthi. Similarly, Aonla Unit head I C Jha and his team have won praise from the MD for achieving the targets. Dr Awasthi congratulated each team separately. Tweeting for Aonla Unit’s head in particular, the IFFCO MD tweeted, Congratulations to #IFFCO #Aonla Unit @icjha_iffco & entire team for their brilliant efforts for surpassing the production & dispatch targets for #Ammonia & #Urea fertiliser for the month of #Nov2020. Keep it up. #IFFCOatWork”.The MD also tweeted for other units including the Kandla unit for their excellent performance and encouraged them to perform better in future too.IFFCO’s overseas subsidiary JIFCO has also surpassed the monthly production target for November 2020. The MD congratulated the JIFCO team through a tweet.Apart from this, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi congratulated IFFCO Marketing Head Yogendra Kumar and the entire marketing team for brilliant performance in the sales of Water Soluble fertilizer/Specialty fertilizers by registering 104% more sales than in the month of November, last year. Besides, sales of Sagarika granule & liquid increased by 81% & 91% more than last year. it is claimed. April 4, 2010 - Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd, country's largest fertilizer manufacture in cooperative sector, has registered a record production during the 2009-10 financial year. In the fiscal that has passed by, the Paradip-based IFFCO plant, since its acquisition from a sick private ownership on 2005, recorded the highest ever fertilizer production to the tune of 15,00,000 MT, according to M R Patel, Executive Director, IFFCO Paradip unit. In a major turnaround, the fertilizer unit has also registered impressive growth in Phosphoric Acid and Sulphuric Acid production in 2009-10 fiscal Patel claimed. While 4,62,000 MT phosphoric acid was produced at the plant, the unit recorded 14,28,290 MT Sulphuric Acid production, he said. Listing out the achievement made by the cooperative fertilizer manufacturing unit, Patel informed that IFFCO Paradip has generated 3,12,420 MWH of Power in the in its captive power plant during financial year 2009-10. At a time when the state is starved of power resources, IFFCO has come to the need of the state by supplying 24,778 MWH power. The financial year that has gone by is an eventful one with the plant bagging prestigious National Energy conservation award. IFFCO, Paradip is also the recipient of ‘improvement in overall performance' and ‘best technical innovation' awards from fertilizer association of India. The IFFCO Paradip is sticking to industrial safety standards and its pollution control mechanism is one of best in fertilizer sectors in the country, Patel claimed. But contrary to claims, the fertilizer-manufacturing unit is now faced with accusation of discharge of toxic gaseous substances in the air affecting residents of at least three GPs in Kendrapara district. Kendrapara district administration has ordered an inquiry into the alleged emission of toxic gas in the air. The PRI members of Ramnagar, Kharinasi and Barakanda GPs located at the close periphery of the fertilizer plant had recently drawn the attention of district administration alleging that toxic emission is causing health hazard in their localities.
January 2009 - The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd
(IFFCO) will increase production of diammonium phosphate (DAP) by up to 3
million t/a at their recently revamped plant in Paradeep, to address
concerns over shortages of the fertilizer in the country, according to The
Hindi Business Line. After acquiring the Paradeep plant from Oswal
Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd in 2005, IFFCO spent INR10 billion ($US200
million) on revamping the facility, and by 2007/2008 the plant was producing
approximately 860,000 t/a of DAP/NPK. Further increases in
production will occur over the next few years. (1) September 28, 2006
